About the program
Master of Science in Global Economics and Finance is an international program on applied Finance and Economics incorporating the curriculum (CBOK) of Chartered Financial Analyst ® professional qualification program.
Competitive advantages of the program
  • The program combines education for Master of Science degree in Economics with trainings for professional CFA ® (Chartered Financial Analyst) exams.

    During education the students get option to specialize in:
    — Investment banking and assets management;
    — Corporate finance and financial analytics;
    — International economic relations.
  • The program is taught in English.
  • Professors and lecturers are invited from the best western business-schools and/ or Russian citizens, with western education. The prominent scientists and professors provide their courses for students of MSc in Global Economics and Finance.
    To name a few: correspondent member of RAS, Doctor in Economics Golovnin M.Y, Doctor in Economics Kireev A.V.; visiting professors James K. Galbraith, Jan Aart Scholte. Regular masterclasses are held by the heads of Russian and western multinational corporations; the CFA ® trainings are provided by the investment professionals and business-trainers.
  • Students get extensive training in Assets Management, Alternative Investments, Portfolio Management in computer labs allowing to apply knowledge on terminals and study the real cases.
  • Individual approach to students and office hours for consultations in addition to usual classes and trainings is included in the study process.
Program Structure
Program is structured according to the requirements of the Russian Federation standards and internationally accepted standards of education for Master's degree and incorporates curriculum (CBOK) of Certified Financial Analyst®.

During the first year of education students get fundamental knowledge on finance and economics:
  • Financial Accounting and Reporting (IFRS and US GAAP), Financial Statements Analysis, Corporate Finance, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Asset Management on International Capital Markets, Alternative Investments, Fixed Income and Derivatives;
  • Applied statistics and Applied Econometrics in Economics and Finance( including Monte-Carlo stimulations, scenario analysis, stress-testing);
  • Trainings for professional CFA ® Level 1 qualification exams provided by experienced professionals and business-trainers.
During the second year of education students continue to study core courses and get trained in Financial Modelling, Investment Projects Evaluation, Mergers and Acquisitions Strategies and continue developing their skills in Macroeconomic and Financial Forecasting. During the second year students may also participate at the double-degree or student – exchange programs with MSU partner Universities.
Admission Requirements
Admission Exams:
  • English language test (institutional test at the MSU) or TOEFL (IBT min 80) / IELTS (min 6.0) / CAE / BEC Higher/ BEC Vantage
  • Economics (institutional test at the MSU) or GMAT (min 475) / GRE (general min130)
